Assessment in Geography and History - 26th January 2017
Discover what it means to make progress in Primary Geography and History, exploring models of progression and expectation frameworks. The course will demonstrate how these relate to the National Curriculum programmes of study and can help to develop a framework for planning.

The range of purposes for assessment will be established and opportunities to assess at different timescales identified. Participants will review assessment practices and are invited to bring examples of current practice from within school to share with others.

Mapping Skills and Digimap - 23rd March 2017

The geography National Curriculum clearly details the need for pupils to be competent in their use of map skills. These skills should be built upon and developed, from devising simple maps and constructing basic symbols in a key at KS1, to the use of Ordnance Survey maps at KS2.

Extended Writing in Geography and History - 8th June 2017

This course will show how careful planning for stimulating geographical and historical enquiries can not only benefit these subjects, but also provide enriching contexts for pupils to enhance their attainment in English, and specifically in extended writing. It will explore how, with  careful preparation, the depth and quality of writing can be developed and improved whilst also increasing and securing knowledge and understanding within geography and history.
